In most conditions, you can find bass near the edge of natural structure such as lakeshore points, channels, or drop-offs. Points offer shade and break up the flow of the lake's currents, piling up floating debris that attracts the lake's whole food chain. Submerged creek beds and channels are cut into the lakebed itself.
Bass will often suspend along the sloping walls or vertical edges where these structures drop off to deeper water. In very warm or cold water, look for bass to relate to the bottoms of these structures as well as breaks, drop-offs, ledges, boulders, and rock piles. Bass are especially drawn to structure on structure, such as rock piles or stumps on a ledge or a point.
