Finding fish - Manmade Structure
Bass like to have an object or structure to relate to, especially in clear water. They like the shade it provides, the sense of protection, and the cover it creates so they can wait in ambush for baitfish and other foods. Docks can be one of the most productive structures on the lake. Look for docks that are low to the water and built on wooden pilings. They offer excellent shade and protection, and the pilings provide good ambush points. In deeper water, look for fish along submerged walls, pipes, bridge pilings, and the edges of old road beds. These vertical structures allow the bass to move up and down to feed or to deal with changing water temperatures with minimum effort.
