Finding fish - Air temperature
Air temperature affects bass habitat by changing the temperature of the surface water. In the winter and spring, bass will often come into the shallows where warming air has heated the water. But even in the summer, a sudden cold front can shut down the fishing in a hurry. When the air turns cold (often right after a rainstorm) and the surface water cools as well, bass will move into heavy cover and hold tight. If there's no cover they'll move to deeper water, which will be more stable in temperature. In either case, you'll have to drop your lure right under a bass's nose to prompt a bite.
