Soft Bait: Skirt Grubs

This is a large grub variation with a fringed, bushy "mop-top" of tentacles on the front end and a single or double tail on the back. This gives the grub a nice bulky, flared profile as it falls through the water, and a wavy pulse effect as you swim it or hop it on the bottom. A very good crawdad imitator, it's tailormade for fishing with a jighead rig, but Texas rigging is popular also. Try these in deep rocky structure, rip-rap, any place you might expect to find crawdads. They're not real durable in the weeds, though, because the fringed skirt tends to get wrapped up a lot.
