Jighead Rig
A jighead is basically a hook with a lead weight molded onto the upper shank. Thread just about any soft bait onto the hook, and you have a lure that's already weighted and ready to go. Jigheads come in a variety of shapes for special uses: round heads, football heads, dart heads, and so forth. They're also available in a range of sizes so you can match the weight to your lure and get just the effect you want. The jighead's hook point typically juts out of the rigged bait, and can get hung up unless you specifically use a jighead with a wire weedguard. Jighead rigs are great for swimming grubs in open water or hopping soft baits in the rocks.
