A weightless rig is just a bait and a light hook, with no added sinker. It has enough mass to let you cast it short distances and will sink very slowly-some baits, such as floating worms, won't sink at all without a weight. Cast weightless rigs into shallow water beneath overhanging trees, flooded bushes, and other areas where bait foods could fall into the water. Light colors like white and bubblegum pink tend to be very effective. For the most natural action, let the bait float or sink slowly with just an occasional twitch.
